There are more ways to keep a pet close than most people realize. Some keepsakes are soft and huggable, some sit on a shelf, and some are cast to stand in the garden for a lifetime. This guide sorts the best-known makers by what you want, rather than ranking them on one list, because the right one for you depends on that. We make ForeverPet, which is listed here too, and we've tried to be fair to everyone else.
Prices and waiting times are from each company's website in October 2026. They change, especially around the holidays, so check before you order.
If you want something soft to hold
Cuddle Clones makes plush replicas of your pet, sewn from faux fur and airbrushed by hand. Every size is $247.99, and dogs and cats come out about 11 to 24 inches long. Standard production is about 8 weeks plus shipping, with paid rush options. They also make plush bobbleheads, ornaments and magnets.
Petsies makes similar handmade plush in 10, 16 and 24 inch sizes, from roughly $199 to $370 depending on size. Delivery is about six to seven weeks, plus a shipping fee.
Best for: the first weeks after a loss, when holding something matters most. Keep in mind: both are one pet per plush, and you don't approve a design before it's made.
If you want a handmade felt miniature
Crown & Paw, best known for its pet portraits, also sells needle-felted miniatures (about 12 cm, around $329) and stuffed lifelike replicas from $199. They email photos for your approval, with unlimited changes, before it ships. Expect around 8 to 14 weeks, and spots are often limited.
Etsy needle felters make some of the most charming pieces anywhere. A small felted ornament is often around $60, and a 4 to 6 cm full-body sculpture around $250. The most sought-after felters have waiting lists of many months.
Best for: a soft, textured, very handmade look. Keep in mind: felt is delicate, so it's better for a shelf under glass than for handling.
If you want a sculpted figurine from one photo
ForeverPet (that's us) turns one photo, or a short video, into a sculpted figurine of your pet. You see a preview of their sculpture and approve it before anything is made.
- In one sculpted color, it's $24.99 (Mini, about 3 inches), $39.99 (Classic, about 5 inches) or $49.99 (Grand, about 8 inches).
- You can choose porcelain white, midnight black, marble gray, cocoa brown, gold or terracotta.
- Full color, created in your pet's real colors straight from your photo, is $69 to $219.
- Two or more pets can share one keepsake for $10 per extra pet.
- Shipping is free in the US, and it usually arrives in about a week to ten days.
Best for: a faithful likeness quickly and affordably, a gift on a deadline, or two pets together. Keep in mind: it isn't soft, and full-color sizes are small, up to about 3 inches.
If you want a full-color figurine
Besides ForeverPet's full-color keepsakes, two other brands come up often:
- SnapFig makes full-color, hand-finished figurines from 6 to 15 cm. They show a digital preview before production and start around $69. Allow about 10 to 15 business days to make it, plus one to three weeks of shipping.
- My3DSelfie sells custom dog figurines from about $79 and cats from about $99. They also make small charms and urn figurines.
Best for: keeping every marking and color. Keep in mind: compare the actual sizes. "Full color" pieces are often only a few inches tall.
If you want a hand-sculpted heirloom
Independent ceramic sculptors, found through Etsy, CustomMade or local studios, start around $250 for a small piece and often charge $750 to $1,300 for larger porcelain portraits. Expect four to eight weeks and a deposit of about half the price.
Bronze is the lasting option for a garden memorial. A custom bronze of a small dog can run from about $500 to over $5,000, with months of sculpting, approval and casting.
Best for: an artwork to pass down, or a memorial outdoors. Keep in mind: ask to see the clay before it's fired or cast. We compare the costs in detail in custom pet figurine vs commissioning an artist.

How to choose
- Soft or hard? If you want to hold them, look at plush or felt. If you want to see them on a shelf, look at a figurine.
- When do you need it? For a date within a few weeks, choose a photo-made figurine.
- Will you see it first? A preview you approve before anything is made removes most of the risk.
- Is your pet one of two or more? Check whether the maker can put them together, and what it costs.
If a sculpted figurine sounds right, you can upload a photo at foreverpet.ai and see your pet's preview in about a minute. If you'd rather compare it with a plush first, read ForeverPet vs Cuddle Clones.
